Peter M. Brooke was born and educated in New York, receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree from Queens College in 1967 and his Juris Doctor degree from Fordham University School of Law in 1971. He also attended classes at the University of Vienna, Austria. Mr. Brooke was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1971 and The Bar of the State of New York in 1972.
After moving to Miami with his family in 1971, Mr. Brooke became the Associate General Counsel of Mondex, a subsidiary of a publicly-traded company involved in interstate land sales. His duties ranged from general corporate legal responsibilities to handling state and federal land registrations.
In 1973, he entered private law practice with a firm representing large lending institutions, and eventually became an associate in the Miami office of a leading New York law firm, Finley Kumble, Wagner. In 1982, he became a founding partner in the boutique law firm of Goldberg Semet Lickstein in Coral Gables, Florida, which firm, after 17 years of existence, merged into the prominent state-wide firm of Fowler White Burnett. In 2005, Mr. Brooke left private practice to become Vice-President and Senior Counsel of AVATAR, a publicly-traded community developer with projects located throughout Florida and Arizona. He is now Of Counsel to the Krinzman, Huss & Lubetsky.
Throughout his legal career, Mr. Brooke has specialized and is board-certified in Real Property Law. His particular areas of expertise are state and federal land sales, condominium, and community associating regulations, the conceptual planning, document drafting, implementation and marketing of large scale condominium and community association projects, and the representation of lending institutions involved in real estate development. He has lectured at the University of Miami Institute on Condominium and Cluster Development, numerous National Land Council conferences, and most recently (in 2006), at the National Business Institute Seminar on Developing and Operating Planned Communities and Condominiums. He handles and structures real estate transactions on behalf of foreign and domestic buyers, sellers and lending institutions. He is a member of the Real Property Law Section of the American Bar Association, the Florida and New York Bars, and was a former President and Director of the National Land Council.
