Joseph J. Huss, a Partner in KHL's Ft. Lauderdale office, is a commercial litigator, focused on complex commercial and real estate disputes. He represents businesses and individuals, including many of the nation's and Florida's title insurance underwriters and their insureds, prominent banks and mortgage lenders, real estate developers, and Court appointed receivers.
A significant portion of Joseph's practice is devoted to serving in neutral roles. Joseph is regularly appointed by numerous judges to act as a receiver, special master, arbitrator, and mediator. He conducts mediations and arbitrations throughout the State of Florida, focusing on commercial and real estate litigation and business disputes.
As the head of the Firm's Fort Lauderdale Litigation Group, Joseph brings a strategic, results-driven perspective to every matter. His experience, together with his work as a neutral, allows him to navigate complex disputes with both legal precision and practical business judgment. Clients value his ability to simplify challenging issues and develop effective paths toward resolution.
Joseph earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the Nova Southeastern Law University in 1981 and his Bachelor of Arts, with high honors, from Florida International University in 1978. He is admitted to practice in Florida state courts, the United States Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and the United States Court of Appeal for the Eleventh Circuit.
Joseph is "AV Peer Review Rated" by Martindale-Hubbell and a proud member of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals. He is an active member and lecturer for the Florida Land Title Association, and is a member of the American Bar Association, Title Insurance Committee. He has served on Grievance Committees for the Florida Bar over several years.
